EDGE Grant for Mobile App Development
A custom mobile app for customers, field teams or operations can be supported by the EDGE Grant, which replaced the EDG, when it fits one of its activities and drives a real productivity gain.
EDG, PSG and MRA have been replaced by the EDGE Grant. They closed to new applications on 29 September 2026, and the EDGE Grant took over from 30 September 2026. For eligible Singapore SMEs, the EDGE Grant supports up to 50% of qualifying costs on most activities, within a S$100,000 annual cap. It replaced the Enterprise Development Grant (EDG) on 30 September 2026.
Under the EDG, a mobile app was assessed as a project. Under EDGE it has to fit an activity, and the app on its own rarely defines that. An app that is part of a larger system, such as the field-service or inventory side of an integrated enterprise system, has the clearest route. A standalone app is worth checking with Enterprise Singapore’s advisors before you apply.
Either way, the before-and-after matters. A customer-booking app that removes phone-tag, or a field-team app that replaces paper job sheets, makes the productivity case plain.

What kind of app has the clearest case?
The app should create a measurable productivity gain, and the strongest candidates are part of a wider system. Examples:
Customer self-service apps
Booking, ordering or account apps that cut manual handling and phone enquiries.
Apps that integrate with your systems
Connecting the app to your ERP, dispatch or accounting so data flows instead of being re-keyed.
Companion apps to a web platform
A native app alongside a custom web build, sharing one system of record.

What it means for your app budget
A worked example: a custom mobile app in the S$30,000 to S$40,000 range, supported at 50%, would receive up to S$15,000 to S$20,000 if it fits an activity at that level, inside the S$30,000 sub-cap for digital solutions and integrated systems. Apps with payments, real-time tracking or AI cost more, and the sub-cap limits support at S$30,000.

The sequence that matters most
EDGE works on reimbursement, so you must apply before you commit spend: scope and quote the project, apply via the Business Grants Portal with Corppass, get approval, then build and claim. Our EDGE hub walks through eligibility, the caps and the full application sequence.
Frequently Asked Questions
Questions about EDGE for mobile app development
01Can EDGE fund both iOS and Android development?
The platforms don’t decide it. If the project fits an EDGE activity, a cross-platform or native build for iOS and Android is part of the project cost. What matters is the activity and the productivity case.
02Does a simple app with no clear productivity gain qualify?
It is a much harder case. EDGE funds capability and productivity improvements, not software for its own sake. An app that removes manual work as part of a wider system has a much clearer route.
03Do I apply before or after building the app?
Before. EDGE is paid on reimbursement, and an application is not supported if work has started or a deposit has been paid. Scope and quote first, apply on the Business Grants Portal, then build once approved.
