Using the EDG to co-fund custom software
The Enterprise Development Grant (EDG) is one of the most useful schemes for Singapore SMEs investing in technology. Software projects that redesign a process, automate manual work, or build new digital capability typically qualify under its Innovation & Productivity pillar — and for eligible SMEs, the grant has commonly co-funded up to 50% of qualifying costs.
Eligibility comes down to a few basics: a Singapore-registered company with at least 30% local shareholding, financially able to fund its share, applying before the project starts. The check above gives you a quick read; a free scoping call then turns it into the proposal and quotation your application needs. See our EDG funding page for the full picture.
EDG questions, answered
What is the Enterprise Development Grant (EDG)?
The EDG is a grant administered by Enterprise Singapore that helps Singapore companies upgrade, innovate, and transform. Custom software and digital projects usually fall under its Innovation & Productivity pillar — for example process redesign, automation, or building new digital capability.
Who is eligible for the EDG?
At a high level, your company should be registered and operating in Singapore, have at least 30% local shareholding, and be financially able to start and complete the project. Enterprise Singapore sets and assesses the full criteria.
How much funding can the EDG provide?
Support levels are set by Enterprise Singapore and reviewed periodically — for SMEs the qualifying-cost support level has commonly been up to 50%. The exact amount depends on your project, your company, and prevailing EDG terms at the time of application.
Can the EDG fund custom software development?
Yes — software projects that improve productivity or build new digital capability typically qualify under the Innovation & Productivity pillar. We provide the project scope and quotation your application needs.
How do we apply, and what’s the right sequence?
Applications go through Enterprise Singapore’s Business Grants Portal. Importantly, approval must be secured before the project starts — so the sequence is: scope with us, apply, get approval, then we begin building.
